Hallman - Graphics 2 Assignment

Hallman-Graphics2.jpg

This page features a fun fiddler crab beachscape that was created using Photoshop CC 2018 for the graphics 2 assignment. In addition to the crab image, there are six beach elements that have been created or adapted to the scene. Those elements are:  the umbrella, the hat, the beachball, the surfboard, the deer and the speech pop-out. Here is a brief description of how each element was developed.

    - After being imported, the  Accent Edges filter  was applied to the background to give it a more muted appearance.

    - The umbrella was created from two umbrella images, combining the handle from one the top from another image. They were merged down to one layer and the, scaled and placed on the background to give the illusion the crab was carrying the umbrella. Part of the handle was erased to aid with that appearance. The water paper filter was applied to the umbrella layer

     - The surfboard was created using two rectangles and an ellipse. Then the clone stamp tool was used to give the surfboard the illusion of being stuck in the sand.  The Stroke filter was applied to the surfboard layer to add some depth to it and finally the Water-Paper Filter was applied to the surfboard to give the it an aged look.

    - The deer was imported from google and the magnetic lasso tool was used to remove it from its background. It was then scaled and placed on the beach in a position to make it look far off in the distance. The Smudge stick filter was applied to aid in giving it that far off appearance

     - The hat was also imported from google and the magic wand tool was used to remove it from its background. It was then scaled and placed in the crab’s claw. The Water Paper filter was also applied to the hat.

     - The text bubble was created from one of the predefined shapes in the custom shapes tool. The background of the bubble was set to a lower opacity to give a hint of the background behind it. The text tool was then used to add “Frippin’ It” to the bubble and the Arc Warp Text tool was then used to fit the text inside the bubble. The text layer and bubble layer were then grouped together and moved to the appropriate location to for the crab to speak. The Poster Edge filter was added to the group to smooth out the edges.
